Whether you’re in town for OSU athletics or Fall festivities, America’s friendliest college town is the place to be this September.
Settlers, attracted by a creek they entitled “Still Water,” established their town of Stillwater in 1884 in the Unassigned Lands. Sadly, the creek that served as the town’s namesake was not enough of a resource to support the now booming settler town. In the same year that other universities in Oklahoma cropped up, the territorial legislature approved this town as the location for the land grant university, at the time called Oklahoma A&M College. Now called Oklahoma State University, this university produces today's pioneers of science and technology. Stillwater truly is an all-American town with its eye to the future.
