In 1899, Oklahoma's Territorial Legislature mandated the founding of a natural history museum on the University of Oklahoma campus. Today, the Sam Noble Museum of Natural History is one of the finest university-based museums in the world, transporting visitors through four billion years of Oklahoma's history.
