This week on LoyalTV, we visit Will Roger's hometown of Claremore and find out how stinky black water that could cure any ailment became the lifeblood of a thriving local industry-making this small community famous around the world.
The community of Claremore takes pride in being the hometown of Oklahoma’s favorite son, Will Rogers. The Osage Indians were the first to settle these Oklahoma hills named after an Osage chief, which the French traders pronounced "Clairmon." Besides being the home town of Will Rogers, Claremore boasts other famous sons and daughters including Patti Page, astronaut Stuart Roosa, and Lynn Riggs, author of the novel on which Rogers and Hammerstein’s musical Oklahoma! was based.
