An interesting perspective on living life in Carney, from the vantage of two residents that are also volunteer firefighters, as they discuss life in a small, and peaceful town.
Originally a small camp known as Cold Springs, Carney got its name from the man who helped survey the area, Carney Staples, in 1871. This small town between Stillwater and Shawnee is home to two unusual concrete sculptures created in 1933 by a local folk artist. The life-size figures, one of a praying woman and the other a World War I soldier, still stand to this day.
